An Interview with Rebecka Vigus: Author & Retired Teacher
Sylvia: Welcome Rebecka. Please give our readers an introduction of yourself and a little about your book.
Rebecka: Hello Sylvia. Thank you for interviewing me. My name is Rebecka Vigus, and I am a retired teacher and have been writing since I was about eleven years old. My current book, Crossing the Line, is the second in a series. It deals with bullying a subject all too in the news these days.
Sylvia: Wow, that is such an important topic. I commend you for your efforts. What inspired you to write your first book?
Rebecka: I always wanted to write a book. I found National Novel thirty days. I was surprised to learn I could write a novel in 21 days.
Sylvia: That’s interesting! I am sure it was very challenging. What marketing techniques have you used to sell your books and which ones have been most successful?
Rebecka: The most successful techniques are to do live presentations or book signings in bookstores. When I can answer questions and talk about my love of words and writing, I sell more books.
Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?
Rebecka: My books are mysteries; there is never a straight line to any end. They are based on things, which could happen to anyone at any time. There is a human element to all of my books. The characters are easy to love or hate and my readers become attached to them
Sylvia: Is there a special place that you prefer when you write?
Rebecka: I prefer to write late in the evening. I’m a night owl. Quiet is something I crave. I used to go to a cottage owned by my parents where it was the deer, birds, bear, and I. Occasionally you could hear a coyote or bobcat in the distance. Therewas no Internet to interrupt me. It was easy to get in 7,000-14,000 words a day.
Sylvia: No Internet? Quiet yes, but the Internet is a necessity! What projects are you currently working on?
Rebecka: I have four projects going at the moment. First, is the release of the third book in the Macy McVannel series, Sanctuary. I expect it to be published in mid-August. Secondly, I am working on a flash fiction piece for a Halloween anthology. Next, I am working on an anthology of children’s poems and stories titled, Of Moon Beams and Fairy Dust, to be out in December. Finally, I am working on book four in the Macy series. The expected release of this book is in the spring of 2015.
Sylvia: What is your POWER WORD? Why this word
Rebecka: I’ve not thought about having a power word, but if I did it would be BELIEVE. Believe you can, believe in yourself and your talent. Don’t stop believing because you get a bad review or negative feedback.
Sylvia: Rebecka, thank you very much for sharing yourself and talent with my readers! How can my subscribers contact with you?
Rebecka: You are welcome, thank you as well. My social links, book links, general where you can find me.
