Fashion Layered Looks

Have you ever wondered the effects of clothes on your appearance? Clothes are not merely meant to cover your body but also to make a fashion statement. The kind of clothes you wear should be such that it accentuates your best parts and hides your problematic areas. Many a times we look much more than what we actually weigh. This is purely because of wrong selection of clothes. The same way, there are a few people who know how to dress sharp and look much slimmer and younger than their actual age and weight. So what is the trick to get the best from the clothes that we wear?

Recent fashion discoveries appreciate and promote the use of layers in the outfit so as to make one look much slimmer and younger than their true present. There are very specific reasons for this positive illusion, they are as follows.

The beauty in wearing layered clothes

There is a certain mystery to the layered outfit. While it intrigues the beholder, it also confuses them to an extent that one cannot make out whether the person is slim nor have a heavy body. Not all layered outfits are advisable. In fact there are many factors that need to be given due consideration when it comes to selecting the kind of layered outfit that one has to wear. The fabric and the colors are the key criterion for the same.

Always keep it minimal

Even though layers seem interesting and most people think that the more the layers the better is the resultant appearance, this is a very big and dangerous misconception. The phrase ‘keep it simple’ holds true here as well. Not more than three layers should be worn. This is because too many layers can actually make you look bulky and worse to worse make you look like a huge Christmas tree! Wearing a maximum of three layers keeps the appearance intriguing and aesthetic.

Fabrics to be used

Use materials that are free flowing. This gives the added glam look that enhances ones appearance. Materials like cotton would not really contribute to the layered look as such as it has not free fall appearance. Whereas materials like silk, crepe and the likes settle well on the body without giving a bulky effect as well. The fabric should first of all be very comfortable and should not stick to the body. The fabric that you select must also be tolerant to all climatic conditions. Do not go for a fabric that is limited to a particular season only. More than the closet you should be sporting the outfit instead.

Colors to opt for

Always ensure that at least one of your layers has a neutral color. Grey, beige or even black are good options. This is because they act as base over which the other layers can truly come out in a pleasingly loud way. Do not use too many colors as it is not the circus you would want to head straight to! Thus, wearing combination colors in your layers brings out the best outcome when it comes to layered outfits.

Pre shrunk

Always ensure that the outfit is pre shrunk. The benefit in layered clothes is that even if the outfit is not pre shrunk, the unevenness after shrinkage adds to the fashion value. However, so as to not spoil the shape, it is always advisable to make use of a preshrunk material.

Other forms of layers

Wearing an over coat or a jacket is the perfect way of getting the layered look. If you are top heavy you can wear a sleeveless tee or racer back tight tee shirt and a jacket over it. The inner outfit gives a slim and sexy look while the jacket or over coat fulfills the duty of being a layer to cover the problematic areas.

If jackets are not your style then a stole or shawl can do the trick as well. However, this is not always preferred as the stoles or shawls do not have any shape to them, thus instead of making you look slim they can just make you look bulky.

When to prefer layered clothes

Layered clothes as established are to hide the problematic areas. Thus, if you are bulky over all or have a heavy lower or upper body then you would want to draw attention away from it and instead enhance the appearance of your best features so that the fat areas are totally ignored. Thus, people who are on the heavier side need to wear a lot of layers so as to still look stunning despite the bulk.

Layered outfits are not only restricted to the heavy bodies, the slim or rather thin people too should sport layers to add on some bulk. While the rules would be just the opposite for those who want to hide their skinny figure, the end result is just as you would like it. Here, the more the layers the better it would be as it would make a thin person appear to have some more weight.
