No matter what your circumstances are, I pray for peace and contentment in your spirit that will sustain you through the ups or downs and uncertainties of life.
The unknown can be uncomfortable and can be quite scary. When we look at the bills, the needs of our families, the demands of life and work, plus trying to fit time in for our own needs, it can feel quite overwhelming. This feeling can be intensified when we find ourselves filing for unemployment because we have been laid off, we find ourselves suddenly single, or we just simply feel like we don’t belong.
I just want to encourage you and let you know that even though it can be overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. Some times, change has a way of coming to us. Just because our situation is not how we think it should be doesn’t mean that it’s not okay or that things are still working out for our good. There is definitely more than one way to skin a cat. We are all born with natural gifts and talents (plural) in addition what we learn from others in the course of life.
I urge you to embrace change the next time it shows its face. It’s actually quite radiant. There’s something about change that brings out the best of us if we allow it to guide us gracefully. We can either accept change gracefully, or we can attempt to fight it. If we try to fight it, we’ll never win. Either we’ll lose by knockout or because we’ve exhausted all of our energy fighting it which leaves energy for anything else. There’s a whole big world out there. To welcome change gracefully is always a WIN WIN situation!
When we chose to allow things to stay the same, we can no longer complain that things (or people) haven’t changed. No one else has the power to change our circumstance but ourselves. If we don’t like it our situation or circumstance, we should change it or stop complaining. Some times, change means to do something completely different. It means applying for a job that you have absolutely no experience in. It could mean taking time to be single to actually learn how to love yourself.
Sink or swim. That’s the motto at a lot of companies. They don’t have the time or resources to train, so if we want the job we have to learn to make it work for us. We have to prove that we are capable. The same goes with change. It’s up to us whether we swim to brand new experiences no matter the current or sink to the bottom of complacency.
Over time, I have felt more and more the feeling of not belonging. I had a good job, lived in a nice apartment, and I have wonderful friends. Yet, I still felt as if I didn’t belong. Instead of waiting for change to find me, I began to seek it. I discovered that my passion in life was not consistent with my current life I was living. I have discovered that it gives me great joy to help those who are seeking God and to encourage those who may feel like they are in their struggle by themselves.
I want to encourage you to seek your change. The next time you’re driving home, turn left instead of making that right, and I believe that you will still find your way home.

WOW how did you know I needed this today? 😉 was just posting over the weekend about how there has been a major urge and push for change in my personal and biz life and how it’s an uncomfortable feeling but I’ve been praying for serenity and wisdom to discern what I can and cannot change. Today I took what I can change and went back to the essence of “me” in my personal life (“me” walking every day, me, remembering to eat right, etc) and in biz life “me” going back to my original hustle and how I use to go after clients. Wow this was on time. thanks to you and the lady who wrote it.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us Katrina. It is a very inspirational and spiritual piece. Lanicia contributes monthly with powerful articles such as this.
