An Interview with Shalonda “Treasure” Williams: Author
About “Let’s ‘GO’!: Get Over To Get On With Life”…. “This book is, transparent, and straight to the point. It will motivate you to look at situations in your life, leave them in the past where they belong, replace the old thoughts with new positive ones, and Go! I will certainly read the remainder of her titles in the near future.
An inspiring must read!” – Dee Dee M. Scott, Author of My Husband’s Woman
About “A Heart’s Thoughts”…. “I think anyone looking to reflect on their relationship with God will truly appreciate this book. Well worth the read! Thank you Shalonda!” – Amber Lehman, Author of Torn
About “PurposeFull You: You Are Full Of Great Purpose”…. “I was going to put it aside and ‘save’ it as I tend to do to the good stuff. I was just going to glance through it but couldn’t stop. How could you? If you feel lost and needful of direction, by all means pick this book up. Think about this quote from the book – “see things not just from a human view but from a divine perspective.” WOW! You cannot just walk away from that.” – A. Mills
Shalonda: Thank you Sylvia. My name is Shalonda “Treasure” Williams and I was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1981. I am the youngest of eleven siblings. I am now the privileged mother of four children that seeks to pave a way of love for my children and anyone else that is seeking the most peaceful life to live. I am daily seeking! I am determined to bring a message of encouragement and motivation to those that seem not to find peace in who they are or who simply need a push in the ‘GO’ (Get Over & Get On) position. I love writing, but most of all, reaching out to those who need a lift, encouragement and a bit of motivation.
With my books “Back to the Basics” and “A Heart’s Thoughts” and in my Love Walk Meditations Series, I’ve begun that journey. Also, with my Motivational Series, including “Purpose Full You: You Are Full Of Great Purpose” and soon to come, “Let’s ‘GO’: Get Over to Get On with Life”, I plan to continue that journey.
Sylvia: How did you get the nickname ‘Treasure’?
Shalonda: A dear friend of mines was placed in my life to show me a deeper part of myself that I only saw a part of. It is a part of his character to name people according to how he sees them. I had a few names but Treasure is the one that stuck. He said “A treasure is valuable even though it cannot see itself as others do. It’s true beauty is covered up until it is ready to be seen by the world but it is a treasure no less. And that’s you Shalonda. You are a Treasure.” Those words came after I had prayed for God to show me more of myself!
Sylvia: Tell me more about a typical day as an author, life coach and motivator…not to mention mother of four kids?
Shalonda: The thing is, I love to write, but being a life coach and a motivator is so natural to me that I don’t even feel like it’s something I have to plan in my schedule. I am always doing these things. I told a few people that I am not a life coach or motivator because I saw a career and all of a sudden wanted to be that. I am these things because they were who I was all along and I just found a title for it. Honestly, I enjoy what I do so much that I have to plan everything else.
A typical day for me consists of searching and learning how to better build my business and being effective while doing it. It consist of long hours and much strategizes and praying. I am always trying to find the easiest, and for now, the cheapest way to expose myself and what I have to offer. A way to let others know that I want to help; that what I have to say will lift them and give them the fire underneath them that can push them into living their dreams.
It is not always easy. And then I find myself trying to get organized and remember that I have to make time for things other than work. But, believe me, the dynamic for are not lacking attention! They would not let that happen! They demand their attention and I love giving it to them!
Sylvia: What inspired you to write your first book?
Shalonda: There was something pushing from inside of me. It was like an awakening. At first I thought that it was just about a religious calling, but it was so much more. It was time for me to write so I did. I felt alive when I did it as I wrote about what was passionate for me at the moment in my life. All things have a purpose! What inspired me to keep going was learning more about me and realizing that writing was a part of who I am.
Sylvia: Is there a message in your books that you would want readers to grasp?
Shalonda: The greatest message in all of my books is that you are not alone. Never are we alone, though it may feel as such. We all have questions. We all have or still have insecurities. We all need someone to say, “I get it.”
In my latest book, “Purpose Full You”, I want people to know how purposed they are; that what they have to bring to the table is vital. Society doesn’t define what’s greatness and what’s not; what’s purposed and what isn’t. So, stand strong in knowing that what you have on the inside of you is just as important as the next.
Sylvia: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Shalonda: KEEP GOING!!! It is time for us to do all that we set out to do. Don’t allow anything to stop you. It’s taking too long to hear back from a publisher or you’ve been rejected, learn about self publishing and keep going. Have faith. Write your story. Write that novel. Motivate others. Why? Because if the desire is that strong in you then that means that what you have to say is for someone, even if it’s just you.
Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?
Shalonda: Because you’re generous! Well, I tried. No, seriously, this book is for everyone. Either you’re the one who’s lost sight of your purpose. Maybe you know someone who has. This book is for the stay at home mom, the prisoner that needs a plan when they come home, and the grandmother who’s been told she’s too old. You want to buy this book because it’s just like sitting down talking to a friend and realizing that you are not alone.
