Terri Clay is Successful Woman Business Woman, Inspirational Speaker Mentor & Author

Terri: My pleasure Sylvia. I am an inspirational speaker, Author of the book “From Fab To Fierce” and Founder of “Come as You Will Be In 5 years Vision Board Party Tour.” My goal is to empower and encourage women all over the world to be all that God would have them to be. This year we are empowering women all over the world teaching them to write the vision and make it plain by having an 8 city tour Vision Board party; where they will come as they will be in 5 years.  It’s going to be a blast!  Our last and final city will be a grand finale in Run Way Bay, Jamaica.  You must come join us!

Sylvia: I love it!  I would love to be there. So, Vision Board Party Tour… sounds like so much fun and very empowering.  Please tell my readers more about it. Which states will you tour in?

Terri: Yes, this tour will have the theme: Come as you will be in 5 years – In 2012 we Toured 3 cities Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; and Mobile, Alabama.  In 2013, we will be in 8 cities in 8 weeks.  The Cities will be Washington, DC; Atlanta, GA; Louisville, KY; Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX, NYC, NY and Runway Bay Jamaica (Join us at http://jamacianvisionboardparty.eventbrite.com/).

We will spend an evening making Vision Boards as well as speaking, dressing, and talking as though it is 5 years later.  The night will be full of writing the vision and making it plain, we will have shopping, entertainment, and even some of the cities will have a fashion show.

Sylvia: Mobile, AL? I can’t believe I missed you!  What does success mean to you?

Terri: Success means to live a life on purpose, be that person that God has created you to be and having a million or two in the bank would be nice, lol!

Sylvia:  How do you create work-life balance?

Terri: Wow that is a great question; I have to keep spiritually balanced and put God first.  I have been guilty of being a work-a-holic but I’ve learned that you must be active in the community, network and have a God-Life, that’s the only thing that will work for me.

Sylvia:  Yes, when God is first… everything will be alright!  What steps are necessary for a woman entrepreneur who wants to move her business to the next level?

Terri: I think it’s important to network with other business owners, I could never do it alone, and I must reach out to others especially if it conjoins with the things my business believes in.  One more thing your network should keep you uncomfortable, meaning they should stretch you to the next level, being the smartest one in the group is never good, your next work should keep you quiet and learning from them.

Sylvia:   It is important to give back.  In what way do you give back to your community?

Terri: I was once homeless, I like to go out and feed the homeless, and I love also to find unique ways to give back.

Sylvia: Wow, you were homeless at one time? What a powerful testimony to others. It is empowering to see women not allow their circumstances defeat them. What was the one lesson you can share from that experience.

Terri: That no matter how down you get, God has never left you and that when there is a test there is definitely a testimony.  Never forget that.

Sylvia: What steps do you think are necessary for an entrepreneur who wants to move her business to the next level?

Terri: She must be willing to invest in herself and continue to be a learner. Find those who have gone before her and are successful and learn from them. Stay prayed up.  God has connections that you could never reach without him.

Sylvia: What challenges and opportunities do you see in the present economic environment?

Terri: The economy has hit a lot of people but if you think outside the box you can see an opportunity out of the challenges.  Opportunities I see is a lot of people want to make more money, find a way for them to make it and you will have a sale.

Sylvia: How do you promote/market your business?

Terri: Social Media, Word of mouth, A Promoter, Advertising in Magazines, Blogs, Radio Interview and TV Interviews.

Sylvia: What books and resources would you recommend to other women in business?

Terri:Think and Grow Rich,” “The Power of Positive Thinking” and “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

Sylvia: What advice do you have for women who are just starting out?

Terri: It’s not always going to be easy, and you may run into some hard times, but never, ever quit.  Find a mentor! #keeppushing no matter what!

Sylvia: How do you stay connected in mind body and spirit?

Terri: I stay prayed up!! I start my day off with God and End it the same way!  He knows much more that I and I need him

Sylvia: What is your favorite quote to live by?

Terri: My favorite isIf first you don’t succeed try again, quitters never win.”

Sylvia:  Share with us two industry or general business related tips that could help other women business owners.

Terri: Sure, they are:

  1.  Learn to say No:  Wow I have said yes too many people and finally I realized you can’t please all the people all the time.  Do what is best for you and your business to grow and be strategic.  Time management is important to the growth of your business.
  2. Focus on your strengths:  You can’t be everything to everybody.  So find out what you do well and do it well, also delegate out what you can to someone who is an expert in it.

Sylvia:  Great advice, thank you. Well Terri, you are amazing woman!  Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with our members and subscribers.  Please share your contact information.

Terri: Certainly and thank you Sylvia.
