A weapon is an instrument of offensive of defensive combat; something to fight with; anything used, or designed to be used, in destroying, defeating, or injuring an enemy.  A weapon can sometimes look threatening, or sometimes it can look like something that should be invited and welcomed into your life. It’s not what the weapon looks like that causes confusion; it is what the weapon actually is. I am a firm believer that everything that looks good isn’t good for us; charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting (here today, gone the next). Weapons may sometimes look like they are fighting for us when in actuality they are fighting against us.

Fred Hammond sings “no weapon formed against us will prosper, it won’t work.” The prophet Isaiah wrote said,” no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” (54:17). Weapons of mass destruction are not always easy to detect. Weapons that seek to destroy you and prevent you from fulfilling your destiny in God can be deceiving. The enemy wants to deprive you and mislead you away from your inheritance that is guaranteed to you in the Kingdom of God.

I was once told that marrying the wrong guy (my choice of person and not God’s choice for me) would prevent me from living my full potential in God; that being with someone I am not equally yoked with could potentially be as deadly to me as driving under the influence of alcohol or jumping out of a plane with no parachute. Once it was brought to my attention, I could not help but to see the ugly truth to one of my heart’s desires. I do believe that God created me knowing that I would become a helpmate in due season. It is also my understanding that it is not good for man or woman to be alone; yet I must conclude that even though it may not be good for me to be alone, it definitely can’t be any better to be with just anyone. Sure it would be easy but it would not necessarily be right. It is also safe to say that if it is too easy and without struggle, it is probably not worth having.  I am grateful that even though I have been charmed by some, I was eventually able to withstand the trick of the enemy and its attempt to derail me off track by presenting an imposter who looked good, smelled good and sounded good yet was anything but good for me. I’ve learned if it’s too good to be true it probably it.

Anything worth having is worth fighting for, yet everything we fight for is not worthy of us. I’ve learned this countless times over and I confident that I will continue to have to ascertain what battles are worth fighting and what fights aren’t worth the battle. Even in these battles, I must remind myself that no weapon formed against me will prosper. The weapons do not have the ability to prosper. They will not win. Every time I have been threatened by weapons of mass destruction from the enemy, God’s arsenal is opened and made readily available to me because I know where to look. The promises of God are waiting at attention to be commanded in faith.

I belong to God. God will fight my battles. Blessed is the man/woman who puts their trust in God. God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. All things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. God is not a man that He should lie. God’s word will not return void. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. If I keep God’s commandments, I will be blessed. I have never seen the righteous forsaken. Anything I ask according to God’s will, He hears me. God rewards those who seek Him.  All good and perfect gifts come from God. Nothing will ever separate me from the love of God. My enemy will be my footstool. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under my feet. The Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing will God withhold from me as I walk blameless before God. God is not unjust; He will not forget my work and the love I have shown Him. In the time of trouble, God shall hide me. If I keep a pure heart, I will see God. My God will supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. All things I ask in prayer, believing, I will receive. Faithful is He who calls me, and He also will bring it to pass.

The word of God prepares me and strengthens me to withstand the attack of the enemy who comes to still, kill and destroy with darts of fear, missiles of unbelief and grenades of doubt. I am prepared for battle. Every day I must put on the full armor of God so that I can take my stand against the devil’s schemes. I stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. I take up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  I use the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And I pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. (Ephesians 6:10-20)

So, the next time the enemy seeks to destroy you, declare that it will not work, and get prepared for battle! Victory is yours!
