About the Author

Mary Travers divides her time writing, traveling and organic gardening.  She lives with her husband alternately between rural Georgia and south Florida.  They enjoy farming, hunting and fishing, with a great appreciation of nature. Together they raised three sons and a daughter.  Their home is always open to extended family.

Mary attended Georgia State University in Columbus, GA., majoring in literature and history.  She enjoys research, cooking and meditation, her Spiritual life being the primary source of her inspiration.

Although this is her first published novel, she has completed several manuscripts awaiting publication.  Her life experiences, and her travels, have provided her with deep insights into history and human nature.  Her novel, Undertow, soon to be published, takes place in Florida.  Anyone who loves the water and fishing in Florida will easily relate to the down to earth characters in Undertow.  While the story uncovers the challenges Florida faces in maintaining clean water, it also tells a complex and compelling love story. Her work in progress, Evening Star, highlights an older generation unprepared for the overwhelming technological or social revolution.  In a world caught up in unprecedented change, heart wrenching stories like Evening Star emerge.  Mary’s characters confront challenging times with unexpected consequences.

Mary invites you to join her blog. She looks forward to discussing novels, story lines, imagination, viewpoints, characters and writing in general.  If you enjoyed reading Her Mother’s Heart, then watch for the release of her future novels.

Sylvia’s Review

Intriguing! At first glance, the first few chapters capture your attention as you are introduced to character Angelina who is determined to research and gather information about her birth mother who died during childbirth.

Captivating! The storyline is so well written that I found myself drifting to a time in the early 1970’s when as a young girl, my mother was brutally murdered and I later searched for answers about her life and death.

“Her Mother’s Heart” is an amazing tale of two generations.  The main character, Monique Dubois, is Angelina’s mother.  Her family was very wealthy and prominent and in 1940, she witnessed their demise at the hands of Adolph Hitler’s evil armies’ during the invasion of France.  Her life becomes a rollercoaster, lots of twist and turns.

As the story switches back and forth between characters and time, you learn more about the life of each woman. In addition, you fervently follow Angelina on her pursuit to discover the truth about her mother’s former life.

I commend Author Mary Travers for an excellent job at developing each character and writing in such a way that you want to read the book from cover to cover!

I highly recommend this book!
