Laura: Thank you Sylvia. My name is Laura Dion-Jones and I’m a Pro-Health Activist, Certified Corporate Wellness Coach, Certified Wellness Coach, TV & Radio Show Host, Motivational & Lifestyle Writer, Speaker and Author. My books include ‘Commit To Get Fit: Find the Secret to Your Own True’ and ‘Everlasting Weight Loss.’  The warning I give right on the front cover is: WARNING: This is NOT Your Typical Diet and Fitness Book! Which it is not!

All types of books can change our lives, but health and wellness books have a potent ability to influence our ongoing lifestyle habits. It’s all about the motivation, and that’s what I’m told I’m a master of.

Sylvia: The power of reading! I am a collector of books, especially business related.  I’ve also been very fortunate to receiving autographed copies of many of the authors that I’ve interviewed.  What inspired you to write your first book?

Laura: My mission, talks and speeches, my book and passion are to help put an end to our country’s obesity epidemic by changing the way people think about health and fitness, and redefining healthy eating by showing them they have choices, alternatives they might have never thought of before.

I aim to change the way people think about health and fitness, and redefine healthy eating by showing them they have choices, alternatives they might have never thought of before. I hope you’ll agree, my message is far too important not to be heard.

Sylvia: Your message is extremely important.  I commend your efforts. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Laura:  One of my goals in writing ‘Commit To Get Fit’ was to change the way dieters view the process of losing weight by taking control of their own personal lifestyle, rather than following guidelines and those rigid rules that could possibly be unhealthy or not suitable for each and every individual. And putting an end to our country’s obesity epidemic because being over weight is not a disease. Obesity is totally and unequivocally preventable. It all comes down to choice and personal responsibility.

My biggest two takeaways are that I encourage people to “bend their best diet to fit their individual needs.” Reminding them, “You wear what you eat.”

So, if you struggle with one diet after the next, buy my book, ‘Commit To Get Fit’- and Find the Secret to Your Own True and Everlasting Weight Loss once and for all.

Sylvia: Very interesting! Do you have any advice for other writers?

Laura: Other than hiring a terrific publicist like PJ Nunn – first things first: hire a fabulous developmental editor, then a crack copy editor. Also, invest in independent proofreaders – who have NOT laid eyes on your manuscript before, and a talented, butt-kicking formatter like mine, JasC2GF front cover layout sm11-13-13on Anderson from Tazmania, of all places.

Sylvia: Very good information!  What marketing techniques have you used to sell your books and which ones have been most successful?

Laura:  So far, I’ve used a publicist, and done a bit of Social Media marketing as well as the marketing comes with my Amazon listing. I’m in the process of marketing more aggressively, so I’ll let you know what I end up doing and how it all works out.

Too may of the “Biggies” in publishing are prejudiced against self-published books and also POD. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why because not all self-published books are hokey mom-and-poop publications. Some of us choose the self-punishing and POD route to simply get our books out there for our seminars and to help people because it can take upwards of 12-18 months to see your book finally published by a larger firm. I needed my book out ASAP to use as a text book in my Commit To Get Fit seminars and programs, and because too many people need help with their weight loss and wellness. We have an escalating obesity epidemic in this country and someone has to help put a stop to it right now. Someone who walks the walk and walks the talk… that’s me!

Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?

Laura:   G2GF is THE book you’ve been looking for if you continuously struggle with your weight. It includes insights, thought processes and other information detailed during my journey to a healthier lifestyle, all of which are intended to positively influence the reader’s view on his or her own attempts at weight loss. It also, while remaining entertaining and positive, stays realistic. Rather than make claims about some secret “trick” that magically transforms your body, as is too rampant in the weight loss industry, it details both my successes and mistakes, my moments of gratification and of disappointment, which make for a guide, I’m told, that’s as honest as it is refreshing.

If you’re looking to make a major life change, whether it’s weight loss or another area of your life, I suggest you pick up a copy of Commit to Get Fit!

One reader review of an advance copy of ‘Commit To Get Fit‘ has described the book as “careful to skewer the diet industry, entertainingly, from the beginning” and “a valuable read for anyone who wants to lose weight, particularly if you have tried and tried and have given up the ghost on that particular goal.”

C2GF is an intimate and uniquely personal experience. I battled obesity for years and years, show anyone how to harness your ultimate potential, jump start your goals and live the best life possible—sharing my keys to health, happiness and success. No hype, no false promises—just results, with a marvelous mix of as much humor, poignancy and equal attention paid to both body and spirit as I could convey.

Let me help you, your viewers, listeners and readers Commit To Get Fit when you want to find the Secret to Your Own True and Everlasting Weight Loss once and for all.

Again, if you’re looking to make a major life change, whether it’s weight loss or another area of your life, I suggest you pick up a copy of Commit to Get Fit!

Sylvia: Is there a special place that you prefer when you write?

Laura:  Not particularly. I love being in my home with my two mini Italian Greyhound rescues, so there’s no other place I’d rather be to write. The atmosphere here is terrific and I’ve tried going to a cafe or coffee shop, park, you name it – but the place I always feel the most comfortable writing in is my own home. I live right downtown Chicago, have a patio with a spectacular garden and love to look out at the flowers and plants. They give me tremendous comfort. I get my inspiration from meditation and everywhere I look in my daily life, but most of all from my daily 5-8 mile walks around town. Woody Allen doesn’t walk 8 miles daily to maintain his svelte frame – he walks for the inspiration. Me, too!

Sylvia: I feel the same way. When I am at home sitting on my favorite comfy couch, the possibilities are endless. Also, walking is another favorite as it gives me time to think. What projects are you currently working on?

Laura:   I wouldn’t call it an actual sequel but my next book is the semi-autobiographical continuation of my growth both personally and spiritually. It’s an incredible Internet dating/relationship book. Also in the works, besides a 365-day wellness journal and a workbook to accompany my Commit To Get Fit classes, programs and seminars, is a screenplay and accompanying creative non-fiction work it’s based on.

Sylvia: Nice! You are doing some great things to empower people to live healthy lives. What is your POWER WORD? Why this word

Laura: We share the same power word! I live to empower others in whatever area of their life that they need to strengthen and improve.

Sylvia: Yes, Laura, it’s my passion to empower others. Well, it’s been great. Thank you!  Please share your social media and book contact information.

Laura: Thank you Sylvia, I appreciate the opportunity.
