An Interview With Janet I Mueller: Author, Life Coach, Consultant, Speaker & Advocate

Janet-I-Mueller, Author, Life Coach, Speaker, AdvocateSylvia: Thank you so much for your dedication in educating us. This is such an important issue that many women face. What inspired you to write your first book?

Janet: My best friend’s life was such a blessing Sylvia, and it’s through her passing to breast cancer that inspired me to write this book. My desire is to help and encourage other women, by giving them hope, belief, and comfort on their journey. I am also a thriver beyond a near death experience; a rape over 15 years ago, whereby a stranger held a razor blade to my neck. I recall in the moment praying, “Dear God please don’t let me die”. I am incredibly blessed He gave me a passport to more time, for which I am eternally grateful. I feel called to help other women not just in their businesses, but also in their personal lives as well. My desire is to make a difference and help other women rise up and beyond their life circumstances by having a Springboard Spirit.

Sylvia: You are blessed, thank God! What an amazing tribute to your special friend. Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?

Janet:  My calling to all women is this, “Have a Springboard Spirit do not let your circumstances in life define or defeat you. Realize you can rise up and beyond adversity”. In my book you will discover the 4 pillars to a Springboard Spirit. See yourself as the athlete, a champion in life, getting back up, crossing the finishing line victoriously. Being a victor not a victim. Using your experiences for good, to help and serve others.

Sylvia: Yes! You are so right. An old saying, “When life throws you lemon… make lemon-aid.” Do you have any advice for other writers?

Janet:  I believe we all have a message, a voice to share, a song to sing, some life experience, knowledge wisdom and understanding. I encourage all women to write their book. For anyone wanting to write who has not yet written, my advise to you is just begin to write, and write, and write, and write and write. Think about how you can also use your experiences to help, serve and make a difference in other people’s lives by sharing your story, your message, and your voice. I think often as women we feel as though, “Who are we to do this?” My calling to you is “Who are you not to?” I believe together we can make a bigger difference and help more people in this world by sharing what we know, and what we have experienced and learned along our journeys so far.

Sylvia: What marketing techniques have you used to sell your books and which ones have been most successful?

Janet: A recent book speaking event and book signing was a huge success. We had one of the best turnouts and highest books sales the store has seen. I’ve been interviewed on several news channels including SNN6 and WWSB ABC7 in Sarasota, FL. Speaking and sharing similar products and services will likely drive more book sales, as will getting into more bookstores.

Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?

Janet: The book is perfect for anyone diagnosed with breast cancer, their families and loved ones, and also anyone dealing with difficult life circumstances. The book can be a life changer, it will inspire you, give you hope, encourage you and also teaches on the importance of having a positive mindset, a “Springboard Spirit”. Breast cancer is not an automatic death sentence, as you will discover reading the stories of the seven women I interviewed who share their stories of thriving beyond in my book.

Sylvia: Is there a special place that you prefer when you write?

Janet: Personally I love to be outside near water, by the pool or the ocean. I also find that listening to soft music in the background helps my writing flow.

Sylvia: What projects are you currently working on?

Janet: I’m currently preparing for several women’s conferences that I am hosting and will speak at “A Springboard Spirit” and “Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Beautiful”. In addition to other speaking engagements, media interviews, and coaching, I’m also working on my next book.
