Dr. Taffy: Hi Sylvia, my name is Dr. Taffy Wagner. I am a happily married wife of 16+ years, home school mom, Certified Educator in Personal Finances, Money and Marriage Expert, Entrepreneur and Best Selling Author. My background is varied from growing up in a single parent household, to being a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, freelance paralegal and several other hats. Having many hats has afforded me the opportunity to relate to a lot of people no matter what they are going through.

Being an entrepreneur truly has its benefits and in that capacity, I was placed in the position of having to find a healthcare solution for myself and our twins. Once I found myself in that position, I began delving into “Obamacare” also commonly called the “Affordable Care Act” to find out the good, bad and ugly prior to the marketplace even opening. I began conducting seminars online and offline throughout the metro Denver area. Before I knew it, friends were asking me for a book. This resulted in my writing, “Obamacare Made Easy.”

Sylvia: Very interesting background. I must thank you for your service in the United States Armed Forces. I served in the USAR and it was one of the best experiences of my life. As for your book, very timely given the current controversy of the website failure. The amazing thing is that there are state exchanges as well as other means to register. The website is just one means. What inspired you to write your first book?

Dr. Taffy: My first book was written based on a paper I wrote in my doctoral program. The more papers I turned in, the more comments I received from my professors stating these would be good pocket sized books. There I was sharing my personal story of debt, faith, homelessness, standing on my faith and watching God restore me in my first book.

Sylvia: Wow, your professors were right; you have a story to tell that could be an inspiration to others. What is the name of your first book?

Dr. Taffy: My first book is titled: Debt Dilemma and it can be purchased on Amazon
and Kindle.

Sylvia: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Dr. Taffy: The message I want readers to grasp is to get as much information as you can to make an informed decision. It has nothing to do with politics, yet everything to do with your healthcare and how it will affect your household.

Sylvia: I totally agree, but I am sure our politicians would disagree. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Dr. Taffy: Write what you know, what you have experienced so you can share how you overcame that test or trial. Readers want to read someone who is not covering up the truth, instead are transparent about the hard times and what they did to come out. This gives them the courage to know several things: 1) They are not alone; 2) It may not be easy but you can do it and 3) Share the testimony.

Sylvia: What marketing techniques have you used to sell your books and which ones have been most successful?

Dr. Taffy: When marketing my books the following are steps I always take:

  1. Write and submit press releases locally and nationally

  2. I do radio interview online and offline

  3. I schedule my own virtual book tours – whether I do a one week tour or a two month book tour.Have gotten my book placed in local book stores, libraries and even the local airport.

What I have discovered is most successful is targeting an audience of readers of many genres that can relate to what I am saying. Interviews whether radio or blogs work really well.

Sylvia: Since I interview a lot of new authors, please expound on how to set up and have a successful virtual book tour?

Dr. Taffy: When it comes to a virtual book tour, this is actually a service I provide for nonfiction authors and there are other companies that provide that as well. Virtual book tours are comprised of either radio interviews or blog interviews over the period of a concentrated time.

Sylvia: Why should we buy your book?

Dr. Taffy: It is an unbiased and consumer view of the Affordable Care Act. It breaks down the healthcare law into layman’s terms without the politics. There’s no fluff and it doesn’t tell you not to go to the exchange, it says do what is best for your household and budget.

Sylvia: I like that… especially since it is so controversial and the media is loaded with bias views. What kind of feedback have you gotten from it?

Dr. Taffy: Well, one person shared that they didn’t know how bad this was going to affect their family. In general, people have said they didn’t understand and now they do because of the information shared.

Is there a special place that you prefer when you write?

Dr. Taffy: I either write at my desk or sitting outside on the patio. When it is winter time, I will write in front of the fireplace. The main focus for me is as long as my mind is clear to allow the inspiration to move within me to get the message down on paper.

Sylvia: What projects are you currently working on?

Dr. Taffy: Continuing to home school our twins; conducting seminars online and offline regarding Obamacare, working on personal development as well as empowering my team to achieve their goals. I am also providing people with a healthcare solution that gives them the opportunity to protect their health and save money at the same time.

Sylvia: What is your POWER WORD? Why this word?

Dr. Taffy: MINDSET. A mind that focuses on possibilities in their personal and professional lives, EVERYTHING would be changed. My MINDSET says I can have an UNLIMITED Life – there’s a way to accomplish everything.

Sylvia: Mindset… I like that! Thank you Dr. Taffy, its been a pleasure learning more about you and your book. Please share your social media and book contact information.

Dr. Taffy: Sylvia, thank you for interviewing me.
